Painting is Completed

Acrylic painting on canvas. It started as a scribble. The colors were chosen, and randomly painted. Then the fine details were added with acrylic markers.

Wednesday in the Studio

I had a few hours of personal time in-between client appointments. It was time to paint again.

The Paintings

I might reopen the Etsy shop, but under a different name. It might be open by the fall. I want to keep painting and have a larger collection.

I have the bottom colors finished. Next will be more detail using acrylic markers..

Maybe I can spend more time in the studio later this week.

Sunday Morning Painting

It’s been awhile since I sat at my art table. It’s been a difficult few weeks. I learned of a new diagnosis as to the reason my legs swell. There’s no cure. But eating less carbs and mostly eat fruit and veggies will help maintain my health.

This morning I organized my snacks and put some in containers to have for this week. I’m also going to make my lunch for tomorrow before the end of the day.

I took another job something to make extra money on the side. I’m hoping it will be full time at some point. I get to work from home with this job. Yeah.

I want to return to painting and reorganize my Etsy shop which I closed. I won’t reopen it until I paint consistently.

New Paintings

Here’s what I have been painting lately. It starts as a scribble on canvas then I make it into an image. Flowers tend to be my topic.

Faceless Self-Portrait

I really need to complete this painting…maybe that’s my goal to meet by spring.

Self-portrait Acrylic Painting

This is a painting about me and my dog taking a walk in the metro parks. We used to walk there every weekend during the summer and into the autumn season. She is now 13 years old. Our walks are shorter but she still loves them.

Day 7: Landscape

Instead of photography of a landscape, it’s an acrylic painting of a landscape.

It’s very snowy here, mounds of snow stacked. The mounds are so high, it’s difficult to see when turning on the street. It’s cold and honestly, I just don’t feel like driving and finding a landscape to photograph. My legs are tired and I’m just feeling overworked. So another plan- I’ll paint.

This evening I decided to paint. It’s been awhile since I sat at my craft table. I said to myself, just paint a landscape using intuitive painting. Trust yourself, go with the feel of the paint and colors.

This painting reminds me of spring. I’m counting down the days for spring. And for us to have less snow and more melting. I feel bad saying that, as we really need snow and climate change certainly has interfered with our seasons. But I prefer spring!

Hope you enjoyed this imaginative landscape and intuitive painting process.

The Creative Formula

It has been awhile since I posted about The Creative Cure, by Jacob Nordby. (it’s been a long few weeks, no time to read) I have included chapter 7 and chapter 8 in this post.

Chapter 7 he writes about the creative formula. It was enlightening to read and brought me to a place of “Wow, this is just what I need.”

Here is a review:

Imagination +feelings/intuition +story=action/results

pick something you want to do, Here is my creative formula: “what would I love to create?”

being an artist who sells art:

imagination: going into the art studio. I can smell the turpentine, paint and hear the brushes on the canvas.

Feelings/intuition: excitement, overjoyed, “in my element”

story: If I make more time to be in the studio, then I can creative more art and can be creative daily.

Actions/results: Finished canvases, more to paint and enjoying the outcome of how my life can change.

Why do we need a creative formula? Because it helps with our dreams. It helps with a plan to make dreams be part of our life (steps to make it happen. And it can help us when we are stuck. it can provide a way to see how we might be sabotaging our dreams.

He explains with this formula, the progress and reality of the dreams happening the action, the resources and people to help and strategies will appear. All because you kept focus on the creative process.

He includes a personal discovery assessment in the book. He writes that writing in a journal daily along with meditation and relaxation and the personal discovery assessment can increase clarity to bring your dreams into reality.

Chapter 8 is a review and recap of the book. It reminds us of what we read about what if…?, socialization, the creative formula and living the life that is nature to you.

I will be taking time to do the personal discovery assessment on my own.

This book was insightful and I can see myself going through it again, taking time to do the exercises and continuing to write daily in a journal.

If you ever find yourself unsure of your creativity and intuition, read this book.

Happy Day

Sunday at the Studio

I spent the early part of the morning relaxing. The studio is cool right now. So I decided to work on painting to distract my mind from some worry thoughts. Later today I’ll be cross stitching.

I’m enjoying painting these little flower paintings. I might continue flower paintings for another month. Also I am planning to read the Creative Cure book by Jacob Nordby this week and post some updates on it.

I finished these small 8″x8″ paintings.

Wednesday Night by the Light

Oh my! Was today a long tedious emotional day! These are the days I do not like as a counselor. The needs are growing, especially with a panic of uncertainty with covid. Stress and the unknown of what will come in our mid-west town. As a counselor I have understanding of their fears and worries about another year of covid concerns and worries of a lockdown. As me, a person, I just don’t know what to say anymore to anyone. I feel desensitized to Everything!

I finished the documentation for today’s sessions. Answered a few questions and closed my computer and said no more of work until Friday.

After feeding the pets, as I call the 4paws, I ate dinner and honestly it had no taste…not the no taste covid gives. But the no taste as I’m exhausted and burned out. Then I thought, oh no what would happen if we have another lockdown!? Last year I was beyond busy. I certainly cannot take another year of that. I don’t mind working from home, in fact that’s what I eventually want to do. But it’s the amount of needs and the exhaustion it caused me. By the way counselors are the unspoken heros during covid or any crisis…we hear and see it all, and we tend to be forgotten in how we are taking care of everyone during covid.

At this point I was done for the day, in my PJs and in the studio. I finished my paintings and they should be ready to be posted on Etsy soon.

I started two paintings, put the first layer. As I was painting it hit me my back started hurting and my hand wasn’t able to do what I wanted. That means my energy is low and my fingers are tired. I had to finish up for the night.

Before I closed up the studio, I prepared a few canvases to be painted.

Now I’m laying down with the weighted blanket and might do some knitting. But I’m thinking sleep might be better.

Stress from my job, rheumatoid arthritis flared and edema becomes too much for me…I accomplished enough for tonight.

Happy evening
