Sunday Morning Painting

It’s been awhile since I sat at my art table. It’s been a difficult few weeks. I learned of a new diagnosis as to the reason my legs swell. There’s no cure. But eating less carbs and mostly eat fruit and veggies will help maintain my health.

This morning I organized my snacks and put some in containers to have for this week. I’m also going to make my lunch for tomorrow before the end of the day.

I took another job something to make extra money on the side. I’m hoping it will be full time at some point. I get to work from home with this job. Yeah.

I want to return to painting and reorganize my Etsy shop which I closed. I won’t reopen it until I paint consistently.

New Paintings

Here’s what I have been painting lately. It starts as a scribble on canvas then I make it into an image. Flowers tend to be my topic.

Friday Painting

Lately it’s been difficult to sit and paint. Mostly because of fatigue and chronic pain. But tonight I felt some energy to paint.

First I did a 10 min yoga evening stretch. Then I painted using water color. And decided to get a canvas out and painted in acrylic.

Paintings

Of course I will be working on the acrylic painting when I have a chance. Hopefully tomorrow after work I’ll have some energy.

#1 mandala

I am challenging myself to draw/doodle a mandala. Mandalas help to decrease anxiety and stress. I want to try to draw 30 mandalas. I know I will not do them daily and that’s not the point.

This is done with a black pen. Sometimes I like to keep more open spaces in my doodles.

I have been stressed with deciding if I leave my job. I decided to stay as I really want to work remotely. I don’t think at this time with the world events I should work from home. I feel more people will want office visits to keep human contact.

I also was stressed about life. I realized that I’m trying to be happy through a job, but it’s a job I’m no longer feeling fulfilled at.

Peace. Let’s pray for Ukraine.

30 Drawings of Mandalas

Drawing Challenge

This challenge is to doodle 30 mandalas. Why, you ask? Just for fun, and to get myself focused on art and creativity again.

I am working out of a hardback sketch book, 8″ x 11″ using a black pen and crayons, color pencils or gel pens. This is something I can do before I go to sleep. Resting my legs under my weighted blanket after a long day. With my work schedule, taking care of my pets and resting my body, I won’t be able to finish these in 30 days. The outcome will be having 30 doodle mandalas.

I started drawing this evening. Here is my rheumatoid arthritis hand. Swollen, puffy and joints are in pain from all the drawing.

The completed drawing will be posted later…

I really need to complete this painting…maybe that’s my goal to meet by spring.

Self-portrait Acrylic Painting

This is a painting about me and my dog taking a walk in the metro parks. We used to walk there every weekend during the summer and into the autumn season. She is now 13 years old. Our walks are shorter but she still loves them.

Day 10: Childhood Memory

Hot air balloons, birds and butterflies and growing up in the country. These are some of my drawings on card stock of the memories. This challenge was a photography challenge, but I am including my art as a voice to the challenge.

Growing up in the country I was around the beauty of nature, the birds singing and seeing plenty of butterflies. There were times in August there would be hot air balloons going over our home. I still dream of riding in a hot air balloon.

Day 7: Landscape

Instead of photography of a landscape, it’s an acrylic painting of a landscape.

It’s very snowy here, mounds of snow stacked. The mounds are so high, it’s difficult to see when turning on the street. It’s cold and honestly, I just don’t feel like driving and finding a landscape to photograph. My legs are tired and I’m just feeling overworked. So another plan- I’ll paint.

This evening I decided to paint. It’s been awhile since I sat at my craft table. I said to myself, just paint a landscape using intuitive painting. Trust yourself, go with the feel of the paint and colors.

This painting reminds me of spring. I’m counting down the days for spring. And for us to have less snow and more melting. I feel bad saying that, as we really need snow and climate change certainly has interfered with our seasons. But I prefer spring!

Hope you enjoyed this imaginative landscape and intuitive painting process.
