Flowers and more

It’s been productive tonight in the studio. My mind was clear and I felt awake. This is the best I felt in a long time. I believe it’s because I went outside in the country and had a relaxing time at my dad’s house. I also think doing yoga daily has been helpful to manage my emotions.

More canvases was prepared. And I’m feeling confident about painting. I’m thinking the book by Jacob Nordby, the creative cure is also improving my intuition and creativity.

More to come….

Happy day

Paint and a ball of yarn

Have you ever been exhausted that your eyes feel separate from your head? This week has been the hardest to get through. I just couldn’t get enough sleep.

Having rheumatoid arthritis and edema causes me to have intense chronic fatigue. Not to mention the brain fog.

Everyday I imagined myself in my studio painting, but my head found the pillow instead.

This evening I took a hot shower, did some evening yoga and painted a little while talking to a friend who just had surgery the other day.

I only painted the first layer. My legs were getting swollen and starting to hurt. I really wish the inflammation would stop and my legs would be thin and never swell again!

Right now I’m going to stitch a few rows of a headband I’m making and will put on Etsy when I get it finished.

Happy day

Chapter 4- more on intuition

The last part of chapter 4 of The Creative Cure, by Jacob Nordby, is more about intuition but he added exercises to connect with emotions.

He writes on page 67, “Cultivating your intuition is a lifelong process best approached with curiosity, imagination, and even playfulness.”

He writes more about traumatic experiences and how it can close off our joy. page 73, “healing from trauma is also healing the connection to your inner creative self, which often involves giving your feelings expression in the outer world.”

He explains unhealed trauma and the diagnosis that are connected to it, such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction etc.

exercise

page 77, he has a practice exercise about making big decisions.

write one sentence or a word that describes the issue: Do I leave my career and find something less stressful to do?

where do I feel this in my body: my head and chest

pretend I am looking at a picture and relax my eyes, allowing things to get fuzzy: think about What would bring me joy in this situation?

Daydream…then at the end say aloud :”Let it be so.”

next exercise

pg 81, Relax body for a few minutes and ask How am I feeling right now?

write one word that describes how you are feeling: Numb

where do you feel this emotion in your body? chest,

give the emotion a color or shape, temperature, texture- color: light gray, shape: blob, temperature luke warm, texture-smooth

write mental story about these emotions:

If you read my previous post, a person I know, died from a long battle with cancer. I couldn’t stop crying, I drove home crying, I sat on my sofa crying. I went to bed sad and my physical pain increased. I had a hard time talking to the family member, because I was hurt. I was hurt by the feelings he is going through, as I lived them when I was his age. Everything returned to me. To watch someone die of cancer, or any illness, it a trauma. But to be at the side of someone’s bed and watch them die and see them hemorrhage is a trauma that will never be forgotten. I am numbed by so many health issues of people around me. I tend to be alone when I hear “bad” news, I never have anyone to talk to me about it as it is happening, I have to wake up alone with it. And go on with my day as if I didn’t hear about anything traumatic. I am always alone dealing with emotional issues. I am tired and need to escape away from work and death and illness. It’s taking away my creativity.

And then there’s a creative art journal

My flower journey is still going on. While painting flowers this month, I’m also started back to creating art journal pages.

Along with reading “the creative cure” it made sense to me to work in my journal.

This is a great way to start when you are unsure what to paint. It’s also a good way to loosen up if feeling tense and restricted about painting. And it’s a great way to paint a background.

Here’s the directions:

The brush of colors

  • Acrylic paint
  • Flat brush
  • Journal
  • Palette
  • Water
  • Paper towels

Chose 4 colors. Any color that appeals to you.

Use a flat brush and paint blobs of colors onto the paper. Fill it until the white paper is covered.

After it is dried. Choose 2 more colors. And paint on top of the colors on the paper.

That’s the first part….more to come about this painting.

Where’s my flowers? I’m working on some paintings for Etsy…will be showing them on blog soon, and posting on Etsy hopefully at the end of July.

Sunday Studio Day

Today was a rainy day. I started the day with writing, yoga and painting. Then I spent the rest of the day cross stitching.

Here’s the pictures of the progress of the big flower painting:

More drying time and more layers to go. I noticed my hand has difficulty to hold the brush and keep it steady. It looks like the inflammation is causing problems. I really hate having rheumatoid arthritis! Grrr!

Put I can hold a cross stitch needle. I think because I can lean my hand on the hoop and I can rest it in the fabric before I pull on it to make a stitch.

I’m almost done with page 17. Page 18, 19 & 20 are full pages and page 21 has only 2 columns for stitching.

It’s getting closer to being finished!

A little knitting

I have been finishing the knit headband for over a month. I knit in-between clients and early morning. However the past two weeks I have been suffering from an increase of inflammation and edema and chronic fatigue. So knitting was difficult to work on.

A few nights ago, the headband was finally finished.

I knitted a scarf a few months ago that goes with this headband.

Currently another knotted project has been started.

The plan is to knit an oversized scarf that can be used as a wrap.

The current stitch I am learning is hurdle stitch.

It’s rather simple.

Cast on the amount of stitch for your project

Row 1 knit
Row 2 knit
Row 3 k1, p1
Row 4 k1, p1
Repeat
Then bind off when you get to the size of your project.

The weather is decent, finally the humid muggy weather has left us. Hopefully it won’t come back. I’ll be taking a walk with my dog and heading to the store. Later today, cross stitching and Netflix or Hulu is the goal.

Here’s where I left off with my stitching

Flower #8 The Large One

July 3, 2021 a quiet day working in the morning from home.

Worked a little on the journal book I hope to finish writing sometime in the present future.

Then later in the day I spent a few hours in the art studio.

I had a migraine for the past few days. And I have a slight headache again..let me just say the stress in my life is too much for me to handle. Unfortunately I have to handle it.

Here’s the first layer of this flower painting. It will look nothing like this when it is complete!

I am using acrylic paint. Late I will be using dot painting and painting with acrylic markers.

Happy day

4PawsArtStudio

Welcome to my studio…

I renamed this blog to 4PawsArtStudio. By day I am a mental health counselor and art therapist. But my heart and soul is always about art. This is exciting news to open my doors to a business of selling art and taking commission pieces.

Coming Soon:

You will be able to purchase my art on Etsy. I will post when the store is open for business.

Below is a sample of my paintings. The style of painting I create is abstract and whimsical. Sometimes I will work in a realistic art style.

Both of these paintings will be on sell on Etsy soon.

More to come about this exciting news
