Sunday Sunny Stitching

It’s been awhile since Derby has been posted.

Today at the studio, we woke up early, extremely early, 4am early. Because I couldn’t sleep and couldn’t get comfortable.

Sometimes the best sleep is on the sofa. Then it rained. My dog and I didn’t get to walk. By the time the sun came out, it was too hot.

I later got my second dose for covid vaccination. Then the fatigue started to set in.

I stitched in between my naps. At some point, you got to say enough for today. My brain was getting lazy and I just didn’t want to count my stitches anymore.

Here’s the progress from this weekend.

Tomorrow I will be home. Hopefully no more side effects from the vaccine. I plan to paint a graduation card. And may paint on canvas for awhile. We shall see how I’m feeling.

Happy day, Caroline

Saturday Stitching

Today I took the day off of work. It was a nice day to have off. I did not go anywhere, I tend to stay home on Halloween, I’m not a fan of it.

I started my day with yoga and then started cross stitching. That’s my old dog always following me around, along with my cats…I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My focus was to finish the column I began from last night.

It became successful.

There’s a lot of thread colors and much movement in my arm.

I have tennis elbow and really should not be putting strain on my arm, but the stitching can’t stitch itself!

I’m paying the price of overworking my arm, it hurts a lot. I’ll ice it as soon as I post this blog.

Here’s the photos of the update…

Thank you…

I want to say thank you to those who are following this blog. I didn’t expect anyone to follow a cross stitching blog, it’s nice to know this “old fashioned needlepoint” is of interest to others. I appreciate you.

Thursday Stitching

It’s been awhile since a post has been published. I have been working and keeping up with some of my other artwork.

Today was a nice day off of work. I decided to relax on the sofa watch some Netflix and stitch.

Derby is a long process, but it’s getting closer to bring finished by every stitch.

Below is the most recent full photo of Derby.

I’ll stitch again soon having my chamomile tea or a new tea… time will tell.

Halfway to Finish Line

Just a quick update on the Derby cross stitch.

I have not posted much because it has been rather difficult to see the progress with all the dark navy and black threads to stitch this.

Enough of the horse is stitched to give you a clear idea of how involved it is.

One more column on page 10 then it’s halfway finished.

Stitching Derby Update

It’s been about two months since Derby Cross Stitch has been posted.

I became extremely tired, working way too much, and just didn’t feel like stitching that much.

The little bit that was stitched wasn’t really worth a post.

Today, I was able to fix a huge counting mistake on Derby. I made the blue helmet on the jockey too big. I realized that after I stitched it, but decided at the time I would fix it when I began stitching the page below that mistake to make sure it was corrected and matched up with the stitches below it. (If any of this makes sense).

It’s not perfect but I tried to mimic the colors in that block the best I could without taking every stitch out.

I held my breath when I had the seam ripper in my hand hoping I would not put a hole on the fabric. Thankfully everything worked out!

Here is the progress of Derby Cross Stitch…

The next post most likely will be the finished face of the horse…

Happy 4th of July. Below is from Yesteryears Sweethearts cross stitch series.

Until then,

Stitching is Coming in to a Lead

Here’s the update on the progress for Derby.

I have to admit I miscounted, again. I don’t know what happened other than I just wasn’t paying attention. Right now it’s not noticable. However as I stitch the next few rows it could be noticed.

Let’s just hope it’s going to blend in well.

It’s unbelievable how many colors are in one block.

The photos are showing the colors nicely. However in person it’s quit stunning. I can’t stop looking at it.

Hope you are enjoying this Derby cross stitch.

Happy Memorial Day

Thursday Derby Update

The stitching is going crazy! The first jockey has been cross stitched. And now the second jockey is starting to be stitched.

The blue colors are sharp and bright next to the gold. Definitely fun to watch the blues come to life.

Here’s the progress

This Derby cross stitch is on its way. I am planning to stitch more this weekend.

May Stitching

This is where the stitching was left off at the beginning of May.

It’s been a difficult month. There was intense ups and downs within myself and with my clients. I concentrated on finishing my yoga teacher training. And now trying to work on managing this stress hovering around me.

I stitched a lot but just didn’t have the energy to put it in a blog post.

So here are some photos of the progress on Derby.

I get amazed at the different amounts of thread colors in one section. It has taken a long time to finish some of the cross stitch blocks because of the amount of colors. It’s worth the time and effort.

And then there’s the tea

Today I am working from home and will have the morning and evening to stitch.

This morning I’m starting my day off with green tea.

It’s a blooming flower called Soothing Star. It has a nice smooth flavor. Comfortable on my throat.

Look how pretty it is:

Well I’m going to enjoy my tea and stitch before I have to sign in to work.

Crossing Derby

I am on page 8. I have 2 more rows to complete. The second row is starting to show the horses.

It is extremely exciting to see this come alive.

I won’t be able to stitch until Friday and throughout the weekend.

Here’s a review of the progress on Derby cross stitch.

Until I have time for tea and cross stitch, enjoy the progress.

Time for Tea and Stitching

The choice of tea today is from Simple Loose Leaf, Anise Pear.

The description is “sweet like candy.” It has anise and elderberries in it. It is a green tea.

Derby Cross Stitch

I have stitched a little yesterday. Here is where I left off at:

The horse is starting to be shown in this cross stitch.

I had to stop stitching tonight. My arthritic hand is stiff and need to rest.

Hope you enjoy this progress.
