This site is about my life in the art studio. It includes drawings, paintings, knitting and cross stitch and fun art techniques. I will also include recipes and yoga and book reviews. This is a lifestyle blog with intentional and simple living ideas.
This morning has been very humid, so I spent the morning in my studio. I wanted to try a black and white painting. It’s been such a long time since I have drawn and painted using black and white.
First I drew a sketch a few weeks ago. Then I used a 11″x14″ canvas board. Normally I don’t paint on these boards often.
I am waiting for it to dry and will go back to it soon to add more depth and detail.
I also worked on the flower scribble acrylic painting.
I will work on it more soon. Also needing it to dry.
I have been thinking about putting together a book about creating in a visual art journal. It’s something I’m going to try to work on once a week. Eventually I will be posting more about it and hopefully can get it sold.
I decided to not do YouTube videos as I want time to work on my book. I wasn’t enjoying video creating but I will post videos from time-to-time on Instagram.
Lately, I have been watching many YouTube videos of other artists painting. It relaxing to watch. And inspiring.
And I have been listening to The Artists Way. Wow, this is reshaping my mind. When I listen to this, I’m either cooking or drawing.
I went to art school but I never felt that I learned the techniques the Masters used. Watching the YouTube videos has helped me to see the areas I want to work on. The videos have also inspired me to paint or draw daily.
I received some sad news about a friend who passed away she was ill for a while. I will miss her. I found myself in front of a canvas and I started painting. I wanted to use small brush strokes, with the impressionism as my inspiration.
This is the latest I have been working on. The reason I started embroidery was because I needed something simple and fun to do while I have been extremely busy with work and I needed a break from the Paris Rue cross stitch.
I am working on another one and will post when it is finished.
I am challenging myself to draw/doodle a mandala. Mandalas help to decrease anxiety and stress. I want to try to draw 30 mandalas. I know I will not do them daily and that’s not the point.
This is done with a black pen. Sometimes I like to keep more open spaces in my doodles.
I have been stressed with deciding if I leave my job. I decided to stay as I really want to work remotely. I don’t think at this time with the world events I should work from home. I feel more people will want office visits to keep human contact.
I also was stressed about life. I realized that I’m trying to be happy through a job, but it’s a job I’m no longer feeling fulfilled at.
This challenge is to doodle 30 mandalas. Why, you ask? Just for fun, and to get myself focused on art and creativity again.
I am working out of a hardback sketch book, 8″ x 11″ using a black pen and crayons, color pencils or gel pens. This is something I can do before I go to sleep. Resting my legs under my weighted blanket after a long day. With my work schedule, taking care of my pets and resting my body, I won’t be able to finish these in 30 days. The outcome will be having 30 doodle mandalas.
I started drawing this evening. Here is my rheumatoid arthritis hand. Swollen, puffy and joints are in pain from all the drawing.
