Knitting Update

Some days I prefer to knit instead of painting. This little piece will be a headband. It will be on Etsy once I am ready to post more products.

The piece below is slowly being stitched. It’s going to be an oversized scarf/shawl. This will not be sold. I need a new shawl for my office as it gets cold. I better get this stitched asap, in the Midwest it’s starting to show signs of Autumn.

Check out Etsy shop, I have knitted headbands/ ear warmers, and scarfs for sale.

Chevron Seed Stitch

A simple short post about the next knitting stitch…

Chevron seed stitch- it’s very easy good for a beginner

Multiples of 8 (cast on 32 for a scarf)

Row 1- P1, K3, P1,K3

Row 2- K1, P5, K1, P1

Row 3- K2, P1, K3, P1, K1

Row 4-P2, K1, P1, K1, P3

Repeat until the end. Then cast off.

This is going to be a scarf. If I run out of yarn I can easily make a headband. Time will tell.

Sunday Stitching

The past week has been one of those weeks where energy was low and the mind wanted to do other things.

Yesterday I started to clean my bedroom. Tonight I might go through my dresser drawers and closet.

Earlier in the week I finished the stockinette stitch headband. I’m thinking about making a scarf or fingerless gloves to match.

Here’s the headband. It will eventually be for sale on Etsy. I have other headbands and scarfs for sale on Etsy.

Over the past few days my front door was painted. This morning I put the final touch on it. I used Hint of Cherry by Sherwin Williams.

Today, I just didn’t know what to do. Cross stitching seemed to be the decision. Painting just wasn’t an interest.

Here’s the update on the cross stitch.

Below is the close up to the details. Tons of colors. I stitched for about 6 hours today.

Later tonight I’ll be reading more from The Creative Cure by Jacob Nordby. I also started reading from my Bible and following a Bible study.

Until later

A week in review-at the studio

This morning I woke up feeling nauseous and just not myself. It might be overheated, it might be rheumatoid arthritis flare. Not sure. I am praying it isn’t a sign of covid. Yes, I’m vaccinated and I have been wearing a mask. But my state as with others, numbers are increasing way to much too fast. With that said. The plan is hot tea as it is my comfort drink, put on my cute summer t-shirt dress, and knit in-between clients. I might not be painting today. At least it’s a day I can work from home.

So I decided to post a review of the week…

Paint and a ball of yarn

Have you ever been exhausted that your eyes feel separate from your head? This week has been the hardest to get through. I just couldn’t get enough sleep.

Having rheumatoid arthritis and edema causes me to have intense chronic fatigue. Not to mention the brain fog.

Everyday I imagined myself in my studio painting, but my head found the pillow instead.

This evening I took a hot shower, did some evening yoga and painted a little while talking to a friend who just had surgery the other day.

I only painted the first layer. My legs were getting swollen and starting to hurt. I really wish the inflammation would stop and my legs would be thin and never swell again!

Right now I’m going to stitch a few rows of a headband I’m making and will put on Etsy when I get it finished.

Happy day

A little knitting

I have been finishing the knit headband for over a month. I knit in-between clients and early morning. However the past two weeks I have been suffering from an increase of inflammation and edema and chronic fatigue. So knitting was difficult to work on.

A few nights ago, the headband was finally finished.

I knitted a scarf a few months ago that goes with this headband.

Currently another knotted project has been started.

The plan is to knit an oversized scarf that can be used as a wrap.

The current stitch I am learning is hurdle stitch.

It’s rather simple.

Cast on the amount of stitch for your project

Row 1 knit
Row 2 knit
Row 3 k1, p1
Row 4 k1, p1
Repeat
Then bind off when you get to the size of your project.

The weather is decent, finally the humid muggy weather has left us. Hopefully it won’t come back. I’ll be taking a walk with my dog and heading to the store. Later today, cross stitching and Netflix or Hulu is the goal.

Here’s where I left off with my stitching

Flower #9 Underwater Bloom

Today was a day of seeing clients by video, making a good meal and starting a new knitting project… I’ll post that later.

Yesterday I finished the headband. It looks amazing. There’s a matching scarf. (Not pictured)

This evening I spent time outside. I have a brick wall around my home that needs to be repaired. My gate is rusty too. It is a project on my list. So much for earlier retirement… wouldn’t that be a dream?!

I decided this evening to do yoga, the weather cooled and my upstairs is decent to be in. (My air conditioner guy never came yesterday to inspect my air conditioner-I’m not happy) It was nice to relax and stretch my legs. They get swollen when walking and standing. I was on my feet for over an hour, then walked my dog. My feet hurt and it was difficult to finish the mini walk. Having edema and rheumatoid arthritis and chronic fatigue really is harder than people realize.

So after yoga, which I did floor stretches, I spent an hour painting. My hand is unsteady. Not sure why, might be the fatigue. My accupuncturist does a finger test and pull on my fingers and I have no strength to keep my fingers touching. He says that’s a sign of low energy.

Look at my new cat…he likes to get on the yoga mat with me. He’s a good cat.

Hope you enjoy this painting. I might add more to it later.

Happy day

Stockinette Stitch

A new knitting project just began using the stockinette stitch. It’s really easy. It will make the project to be thick. Great for scarves, shawls, headbands and sweaters.

The plan is to stitch a headband using stockinette stitch.

Cast on 40 stitches

Then knit and move yarn to front, slip the next stitch as if you are going to purl, (but you won’t actually purl) then move yarn back and knit. Repeat.

Slip the stitch… don’t actually purl the stitch

There’s tons of videos about this stitch to view.

It’s another hot day. It will consist of staying downstairs in front of the fan, stitching. It will also be an early bedtime.

It’s exhausting working full time and wanting to work on my individual creative projects.

Happy day

Thursday Heat

It’s been a week of hot humid weather.

Yesterday there’s was no posting about what’s happening at 4pawsartstudio because it wasn’t an interesting day. Basically I worked all day and took my dog to the vet and helped my neighbor out with feeding her cats.

Waking up extra early helped me to get out for a walk with my dog before the sun started to beat down on my fair skin.

After I started to knit the scarf. It was a surprise that I was able to finish it before I had to go into the office this afternoon.

It looked to boring… let’s add tassels!

I pinned the markers where to knit in the tassels.

Then measure and cut 12″ long of the color for the tassel. I had 3 strands in 12 groupings for each end of the scarf. Take a crochet hook and find the center, loop the grouping of yarn and crochet it where the marker is. But leave a loop and add the tail into the loop to tie it in place.

Then I cut the ends to match the length of the tassels.

I’m very pleased with it.

Look for it on Etsy in my shop named: 4pawsartstudio

Happy day
