Crochet blanket

Here’s my update on the crochet blanket. I have been working on this since early this year. I am using a single crochet stitch.

I wish I made it just a little bit wider. But it’s looking good. I don’t feel I’m the best at crochet. But my stitches are getting more precise as I practice.

A Little Update

I have been taking my time with this blanket. I am using a single crochet stitch in three colors. I chose these colors because they will blend in with my decor in my bedroom.

I haven’t been writing much on this blog because I have been busy balancing work and exercising and just trying to take care of myself.

I’ve been diagnosed with lymphedema and lipedema and heaven trying to incorporate more exercises for my lymphatic system. So my exercise usually takes 30 minutes to 40 minutes in the morning as well in the evening. So I have not had much time to be creative in my art journal. But I have been able to finish an oil painting that I posted on my YouTube channel. But it did take me longer to paint it than I expected.

YouTube

Here’s the latest YouTube video please like and subscribe as it helps me to continue showing my art process and anything creative that I’ve been doing.

I have every intention to blog more often but I lose track of time with work and exercising and other things I need to do. But that’s a little update on what’s going on in my life and an update on my artwork and my stitching.

A New Knit Stitch

It’s been awhile since I posted about my knitting. I took a break, opened an Etsy shop and got caught up on cleaning and organizing my home.

I have been working on minimizing what I own. Reading a book, the joy of less by Francine Jay. It’s just time to minimize my life and find peace in what I have.

Knitting

Here is my latest knit stitch. It is called Seersucker stitch. I am planning to make a scarf with this stitch..

Knitting a Blanket

I have been wanting to knit a blanket. I decided to come up with my own design with stitches that I enjoy knitting. I might throw in a new stitch as well. This yarn is made by Big Twist Tweed, 382 yd. I am using 6.0 mm knitting circular needle. 33 stitches are cast on, but hurdle stitch, you need 34 cast on stitches.

Hurdle Knit Stitch

So Far I made:

I made 3 different stitch patterns, 6 pieces of each. There is a plan for 3 more different stitch patterns to go. I am starting with a small amount and see how much bigger I want the blanket.

Next Post Coming:

Update on my cross stitch Rue Paris. It has been a long time since I stitched on my cross stitch and talked about it….

Happy Day

Diagonal Knit Stitch

This knit stitch is great for scarves, blankets, dish towels. It’s easy. It takes two types of stitches knit and purl.

Pattern

Cast on multiple of 4 plus 2.

* repeat, pattern begins each row with knit 1, and ends with knit 1.

  • Row 1- k1, (*p2, k2), k1
  • Row 2- k1, (*p1,k2,p1), k1
  • Row 3- k1, (*k2, p2), k1
  • Row 4- k1, (*k1,p2,k1), k1

I am stitching squares of different stitches and will be stitching them together for a blanket. I am hoping it will be a blanket that can go on my bed for the summer. It will be a long wait for this to be finished. But it will be worth it.

Happy Day

Update on My Goal List

I made goals at the beginning of this year. The goal is to complete what was started! Let’s see what has been done. And read the books I have. Plus no additional shopping, use what I have with my arts and crafts.

The Knits

There are 2 knitting projects, one a scarf and the other is a wrap.

The scarf is knitted with seed stitch. The wrap is knitted in hurdle stitch. It has 4 rows which is row one: knit stitch, row two: knit stitch, row three: knit, purl, row four: knit purl

The scarf is getting close to being completed. I may be able to wear this scarf before the winter ends!

Below is purl stitch. Garter stitch is the edge.

The wrap has much more to finish. I just added the other skein of yarn a few days ago. I also have to stop knitting it at a certain length, so I can knit pockets for it. (being a little adventurous)!

Below is close up of hurdle knit stitch.

Books

I am not a fan of reading. I prefer to write, but I know my writing is not professional.

The Bible study is going well, every night I listen to the study and make notes. I have been learning a lot.

The other books-well they make it out of the bin, but then onto a table. I just can’t get myself interested. The goal was to read, not to complete the entire bin. Maybe I have revisit this goal.

I Bent the Rules

I was going to finish another cross stitch before I began Rue Paris. But I just wanted so badly to start it. So I am now focused on Rue Paris. I am ok with that. I think I will alternate between the one I need to finish and Rue Paris.

Below is how much I have accomplished on the stitching. I’ll stitch Rue Paris on Sunday.

Happy Day
